Trigger Agents
Choose how candidates move through your hiring pipeline
Once candidates are in your workflow, the hiring agents need to be triggered to evaluate them. This can happen in two ways — automatically based on rules you've configured, or manually when you want direct control over who moves forward.
1. How AI Matching (Resume Matching) works
#AI Matching (Resume Matching) runs automatically on every candidate as soon as they enter the workflow. There's nothing to trigger — the moment a candidate is added, SIA immediately begins evaluating their resume against your matching strategy and assigns them a grade.
2. Automatic triggering
#If you've set up the Hiring Automation Agent, candidates move through the pipeline on their own based on the rules you've defined. Once AI Matching is complete and a candidate meets the conditions you've set, the next agent, AI Prescreening or AI Interview, is triggered automatically without any manual action needed.
For example:
- When Resume Matching grade ≥ B → AI Prescreening triggered automatically
- When Prescreening grade ≥ B → AI Interview triggered automatically
The pipeline keeps moving as long as candidates continue to meet the conditions at each stage.
3. Manual triggering
#If you haven't set up automation rules, or if you want to take direct control over which candidates progress, you can trigger agents manually.
a. Triggering in bulk
- On the Candidate Listing page, select the candidates you want to progress
- Choose Trigger AI Prescreening or Trigger AI Interview from the actions menu
- The selected agent is triggered immediately for all selected candidates
b. Triggering for an individual candidate
The same option is available on a per-candidate basis. Open the action menu on any individual candidate and select the agent you want to trigger.
Manual triggering gives you full control over candidate progression at any point — even if automation rules are active. You can use both approaches together depending on how hands-on you want to be at each stage.
