Rescreening
Re-evaluate candidates against updated matching criteria — instantly
When you update a job's matching strategy — adding, removing, or reweighting criteria — candidates already in the pipeline were scored against the old version. Rescreening re-runs the AI Matching evaluation for all candidates against the updated criteria, so their grades always reflect your current requirements.
Rescreening only re-runs resume matching. Prescreening results and AI Interview scores are never affected.
When to rescreen
#Rescreening is needed any time you change the matching strategy for a job. Common situations include:
- A criterion was added — existing candidates were never evaluated against it, so their scores are incomplete
- A criterion was removed — existing candidates carry scores for a criterion that no longer contributes, which can make grades misleading
- A max score was changed — the proportion this criterion contributes to the overall score has shifted, making candidate rankings inaccurate
- Scoring logic or measurement was changed — the same resume data will now produce a different score, making existing grades stale
Renaming a criterion is a cosmetic change only — it does not affect scores and does not require a rescreen.
How to trigger a rescreen
#There are two ways to start a rescreen — both open the same confirmation step before anything runs.
The Rescreen button
A Rescreen button is visible in the toolbar of the Candidate Listing page, to the left of the Screen Candidates button. It is greyed out and disabled when no criteria changes have been made. It becomes active only when there are changes to rescreen against.
The criteria-change banner
When you modify the matching criteria for a job, a banner automatically appears at the top of the Candidate Listing page. It shows when the criteria were last updated and how many criteria changed.
Click Review changes in the banner to open the confirmation step. The banner stays visible until you either dismiss it or complete a rescreen.
Reviewing what changed
#Before any rescreen begins, a confirmation modal shows you exactly what has changed in the matching criteria and how many candidates will be rematched.
The modal shows:
- The number of candidates that will be rematched
- A criteria table listing only the criteria that have been modified, added, or removed — with their current max score and a tag indicating what changed
Change tags you may see:
- Added — this criterion is new and didn't exist in the previous strategy
- Removed — this criterion has been deleted from the strategy
- Name — the criterion was renamed; scores are unaffected
- Scoring logic — the evaluation logic for this criterion was updated
- Max score — the maximum score this criterion can contribute was changed
- Measurement — how this criterion is measured was changed
Click Rescreen to proceed or Cancel to close without making any changes.
Rescreen progress
#Once you confirm, the rescreen runs in the background. A progress panel tracks the status — showing the job name, a progress bar, time remaining, and the total number of candidates being rematched.
You can navigate away and continue working while the rescreen runs. When complete, the progress panel updates to show Rescreen complete and the candidate table refreshes automatically.
Grade changes after rescreening
#Once rescreening is complete, the candidate table updates to reflect the new match grades. Candidates whose grade changed show a visual indicator next to their Match Grade:
- Green ▲ — the candidate's Match Grade improved after rescreening
- Red ▼ — the candidate's Match Grade dropped after rescreening
- No caret — the candidate's grade did not change
Candidates in Prescreening, AI Interview, Shortlisted, or Disqualified are not affected by rescreening and will not show any indicators.
Per-candidate rescreen report
#Click any grade change caret to open a detailed before-and-after comparison for that candidate.
The report shows:
- Before and After grade cards — the candidate's Overall Grade before and after rescreening, with a directional indicator
- Per-criterion breakdown — every criterion listed with its old grade, new grade, and what changed. Removed criteria show their last grade alongside a dash in the new grade column, explaining why an overall grade may have shifted even if remaining criteria scored higher
ATS sync
#Once rescreening is complete, updated Match Grades, Overall Grades, and rescreen summary reports are automatically pushed to your connected ATS, no manual export needed.
